M-PLAS 2011 opens its doors today
Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry urges Malaysia's plastics and rubber industries to seize opportunities and innovative solutions

"The exhibition is well-timed and well-positioned as it provides industry insights into the latest innovations, technologies and the global trends currently available on plastic and rubber machinery, equipment, products and services," says YB Dato' Jacob Dungau Sagan, Malaysia's Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry in his opening speech at the official opening of M-PLAS 2011, the 5th International Plastics and Rubber Trade Fair for Malaysia.

According to YB Dato' Dungau, the exhibition underlines the importance of Malaysia as a key plastics and rubber manufacturing destination and as a global player for the plastics and rubber sectors in the region, particularly against the backdrop of an export industry of rubber products which accounted for 2 percent of Malaysia's total exports in 2010. "As economic power gradually shifts from west to east and with the continuing rise of China and India, the plastics and rubber industries will have to gear themselves to look for innovative solutions and seize opportunities whenever they present themselves in the new global economic order," YB Dato' Jacob Dungau Sagan says.

M-PLAS 2011: Malaysia's definitive plastics and rubber trade fair opens next week

At M-PLAS 2011 held in Kuala Lumpur from 9 to 12 November, more than 200 exhibitors across all sectors in the plastics and rubber industry will present their latest innovations. Building on its international reputation for showcasing technological solutions for Malaysia's plastics and rubber sectors, this four-day biennial exhibition has attracted companies from some 20 countries with some 60 percent of the exhibition space occupied by companies based outside Malaysia. Since its debut in the year 2000, M-PLAS has attracted more than 25,000 visitors.

Positive plastics and rubber market development marks lead up to M-PLAS 2011

At M-PLAS 2011 held in Kuala Lumpur from 9 to 12 November, more than 200 exhibitors across all sectors in the plastics and rubber industry will present their latest innovations. Building on its international reputation for showcasting technological solutions for Malaysia's plastics and rubber sectors, M-PLAS has attracted companies from some 20 countries that have already registered to exhibit.

With some 60 percent of the exhibition space occupied by companies based outside Malaysia, these include strongly represented national pavilions and groups from Austria, China, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore. Manufacturers of machinery and equipment are the largest group of exhibitors at M-PLAS 2011, followed by an international display in the following categories: raw materials, auxiliaries, semi-finished products, technical parts and reinforced plastics, and services for the plastics and rubber industries.

Suppliers from Germany, Switzerland, USA as well as Asian manufacturers from China, Japan and Taiwan, will also feature strongly at this fifth edition of the exhibition. Among them are global market leaders and a range of exciting newcomers. M-PLAS returns to Malaysia amid strong industrial growth

M-PLAS, the International Plastics and Rubber Trade Fair for Malaysia, returns to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in November 2011 at a time when the Malaysian economy, industrial sectors and business environment are performing strongly. Malaysia's GDP growth is expected to average 5% a year in 2011 to 2015.

Home to more than 1,550 plastic product manufacturers, Malaysia is one of the most diversified and advanced plastics and rubber processing sectors among the ASEAN nations. On the account of high level technology and superior production cost efficiencies employed, the plastics and rubber processing sectors are re-establishing themselves as a strong competitive manufacturing base. These sectors will continue to move up the value added ladder even further and take advantage of a new, eager customer base in the rapidly expanding ASEAN region.
